Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in Dhaka and three district to help maintain law and order amid a recent surge in violence ahead of the verdict against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina tomorrow.

Shariful Islam, public relations officer at the BGB headquarters, confirmed the deployment today.

He said BGB personnel are currently assisting local administrations in Dhaka, Gopalganj, Faridpur and Madaripur to ensure overall security and keep the law-and-order situation stable.

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 is set to deliver its verdict tomorrow in the case filed against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her two top aides over crimes against humanity committed during the last year's July uprising.

Over the past week, miscreants torched several vehicles and carried out a series of crude bomb explosions in Dhaka and several districts centering the announcement of the verdict and Awami League's announcement of blockade programmes.
