An attempted arson took place at the Garidaha branch of Grameen Bank in Sherpur, Bogura, late last night (15 November), according to local people.

Superintendent of Police Md Zedan Al Musa confirmed the incident to The Business Standard, noting that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible. He added that legal action will follow against a formal complaint.

He ensured that law enforcement official remain on high alert to prevent any acts of sabotage in connection with the banned Awami League's announced shutdown programme.

The SP explained that unidentified miscreants attempted a sabotage-driven arson, causing no major damage except slight burning of the bank branch's nameplate on the main gate.
