Swechchhasebak League leader arrested with firearms in Cumilla
A local leader of the Swechchhasebak League was arrested with firearms during a late-night operation by army personnel in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla last night (14 November).
Mohammad Shamim, also known as Nasir, was arrested from Unkot village under Shubhopur union. Confirming the matter today (15 November), Chauddagram Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Hilal Uddin Ahmed said the army detained Nasir with weapons and handed him over to the police.
According to the OC, Nasir faces multiple cases filed in several police stations in Dhaka as well as in Chauddagram.
Sources at the Chauddagram Army Camp stated that the operation was conducted based on intelligence information.
During the raid the team allegedly found a pistol, two magazines, and six rounds of ammunition in Nasir's possession.
