RNPP to play groundbreaking role in power sector: Salehuddin
Science and Technology Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed on Friday (16 January), expressed hope that the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) would play a groundbreaking role in Bangladesh's power sector.
"With the completion of this project, it will play a significant role in meeting the country's growing electricity demand and help achieve energy security and sustainable development goals," he said while visiting the RNPP construction site in Ishwardi, Pabna.
During the visit, the adviser observed the progress of construction work and spoke with workers and engineers involved in the project's implementation. He appreciated their relentless efforts and inquired in detail about the progress at different stages of construction.
Salehuddin noted that the nuclear power plant is being established in compliance with all international rules and regulations. He added that nuclear fuel loading activities are expected to begin very soon.
Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Finance Secretary Dr Md Khairuzzaman Majumder, Economic Relations Division Secretary Md Shahriar Quader Siddiqui, and Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain were present during the inspection.
The chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, officials of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Authority, and the project director of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project were also present.
