Queen of the North’s Lara Croft revealed
Production has officially commenced on Prime Video's highly anticipated 'Tomb Raider' series, marked by the debut of Sophie Turner in Lara Croft's signature attire. The British actress, beloved for her portrayal of Sansa Stark in 'Game of Thrones', was pictured in the classic emerald tank top and khaki shorts—a nostalgic nod to the archaeologist's 1996 PlayStation origins.
Stepping into a role previously defined by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, the Warwickshire-born star admitted she has "massive shoes to fill." However, Turner is backed by a powerhouse creative team, including writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who aims to revitalise the franchise that originally revolutionised female protagonists in gaming.
The series boasts a stellar ensemble, featuring Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, and Celia Imrie. This adaptation follows Amazon's recent success with Fallout, continuing the trend of high-budget gaming crossovers. With two new titles currently in development at Crystal Dynamics, the "Tomb Raider" phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down.
As Lara returns to her roots with a modern edge, fans are eager to see if this "re-imagining" can capture the magic that made the British-designed character a global cultural icon decades ago.
