Miscreants set fire to an ambulance at Sylhet's Shahid Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital and a bus at the Kumargaon Bus Stand early today (16 November).

The arson incidents occurred between 2:30am and 3:30am, with no casualties reported, according to officials.

CCTV footage from the hospital shows five young men on two motorcycles entering the parking area before the ambulance was set ablaze.

Fire Service personnel later brought the fire under control, and police have collected the footage.

Police said efforts are underway to identify those involved.

Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, residential medical officer of Shamsuddin Hospital, said the ambulance was completely gutted and that a case will be filed.

Junaid, a member of the Sylhet Fire Service Station, said one unit was dispatched at 3:15am after receiving the fire report from the hospital. The team returned at 3:48am after controlling the blaze.

Moments later, at 3:50am, they received news of an abandoned bus being set on fire at the Kumargaon Bus Stand.

Mohammad Fazal Miah, fire leader of the Sylhet Fire Service, said a unit was sent to the scene and brought the fire under control.

He said the government ambulance at the hospital had been functional prior to the fire, which gutted it completely except for its tyres.
