The 6th Lakshmipur Regional Math Olympiad 2025, organised by Lakshmipur Math Club, will hold its district final on Saturday (15 November) at Lakshmipur Government Girls' High School.

The event is being arranged in collaboration with the Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee, which has provided academic and technical support for question preparation and coordination.

This year's competition features four categories: Primary (grades three to five), Junior (grades six to eight), Secondary (grades nine to ten), and Higher Secondary (grades eleven to twelve).

The upazila-level Olympiads were held on 7 and 8 November across five upazilas — Raipur, Ramganj, Lakshmipur Sadar, Kamalnagar, and Ramgati — with more than 4,000 students participating. Of them, 1,000 students have been selected for the district final.

From each of the Primary, Junior, and Secondary categories, five champions, five first runners-up, and five second runners-up will be announced. All students selected from the upazila rounds and competing in the district final will receive certificates.

More than 200 volunteers from the five upazilas are contributing to the overall management of the event. The Olympiad has received financial support from JCX Developments Ltd, eShikhon, SKRP Group, and advisers of Lakshmipur Math Club.

Officials of the district and upazila administrations, along with local dignitaries, are expected to attend as guests. Local organising partners include Ramgati Students' Community, Dhaka, and Kamalnagar Science Club, which helped coordinate the upazila rounds.

The event aims to help students overcome their fear of mathematics and guide them in shaping their future academic and career paths. Senior students from Lakshmipur, now studying at various universities across the country, share their experiences with participants to inspire them to pursue opportunities at leading institutions. They also discuss avenues for higher studies at home and abroad. Each Olympiad includes an "Ask and Win" session and a Rubik's Cube solving competition.

Established on 15 February, 2013, Lakshmipur Math Club is a voluntary educational organisation founded by students of BUET, the University of Dhaka, medical colleges, and other institutions. In addition to regular math olympiads, the club has organised initiatives such as an ICT workshop for SSC students in 2014, a programming camp and career seminar in 2015, and the Junior Science Olympiad in 2017 involving students from Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Noakhali, Feni, and Cumilla districts.

The club's current president is Engr Maksud Ur Rahman, a graduate of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at BUET, while Engr Istieak Kamal Aiman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CUET serves as the general secretary.
