Rail communication of Mymensingh-Netrakona was restored after two hours of disruption following a fire at the engine compartment this noon.

The engine of the Netrakona's Jharia-bound Balaka Commuter caught fire near the Biska area of Mymensingh's Sadar upazila around 10:30am, said Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mymensingh Railway Police Station.

He added that the engine caught fire due to a technical glitch, creating panic among the passengers. The train was promptly stopped after it malfunctioned.

There were no casualties reported, and the communication resumed around 12:30pm upon replacing the engine, confirmed the OC.
