Leaders of National Citizen Party (NCP) are holding a meeting with National Consensus Commission members to discuss the implementation process of the July charter, its legal basis, and other related issues.

The meeting began at 10:30am at the LD Hall of the National Parliament building.

According to a source from the commission, members of the NCP delegation will discuss the order for implementing the July charter, its legal foundation, and several other related topics.

The NCP delegation includes the party's member secretary Akhter Hossen, joint conveners Sarwar Tushar, Khaled Saifullah, and Javed Rasin, as well as joint member secretary Zahirul Islam Musa.

Those present from the consensus commission include its Vice President Prof Ali Riaz, members Badiul Alam Majumder, Iftekharuzzaman, Ayub Mia, and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser (consensus) Monir Haider.

Earlier, on October 17, the signing ceremony of the "July National Charter 2025" was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament, attended by the chief adviser and chief of the commission, Muhammad Yunus.

Out of the 30 parties and alliances involved in the dialogue, 25 signed the charter, pledging to implement the reform decisions made by the commission.

However, the NCP did not sign, saying there was uncertainty about how the July charter would be implemented. Four other parties also refrained from signing, citing different objections.

On Thursday, the commission held a separate meeting with experts to discuss how the July charter could be implemented.

After the signing ceremony, NCP Convener Nahid Islam told a press conference that the party did not sign the charter because it lacked a clear legal foundation, the draft of the implementation order was not made public, and the full outline of the implementation process was not shared with the nation.
