Bangladesh Television's long-running and much acclaimed children's talent contest, "Notun Kuri", has completed its final selection phase and will begin the much-anticipated "Top Ten" round this week.

The programme — widely regarded as one of the country's principal platforms for young performers — concluded its final screening on Tuesday. From that field, adjudicators have shortlisted the highest scorers in each category: the top ten contestants in every discipline will advance to the next stage. Where ties occur, contestants with equal marks will also be given the opportunity to compete in the Top Ten round.

Auditions for the Top Ten phase run from October 24 to October 29 at the Bangladesh Television Dhaka centre in Rampura. Contestants and guardians will be notified of results on BTV's official website; selected participants will also receive SMS alerts with audition dates and instructions.

On the day of the audition, contestants must bring their "Yes" card as proof of registration. Those who clear the Top Ten round will progress to grooming sessions and the programme's final stages. Additional details and updates will be posted on BTV's website and broadcast on on-air scrolls.

Over decades, "Notun Kuri" has introduced successive generations of young artistes to national audiences, showcasing talents across music, acting, recitation, dance and other cultural disciplines.

This year's crop of contestants, judges say, impressed with both technical skill and creativity — and the coming week will determine which performers move closer to the televised finals.
