The 10th Communication and Journalism Educators Network (CJEN) Conference 2025 was inaugurated on Thursday at the American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB), marking a major milestone in the country's media education landscape.

Organised by the Department of Media and Mass Communication (MMC) of AIUB in collaboration with DW Akademie, the two-day conference brings together media educators, communication scholars, journalists, and students from across Bangladesh. This year's theme, "Media Transformed: Bangladesh at a Crossroads," focuses on the evolving role of journalism and communication in a rapidly changing digital environment.

The opening ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. S. M. A. Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, as the chief guest. Special guests included Ramon Guillermo R. Tuazon, Secretary-General of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC); Ishtiaque Abedin, Founder and Member, Board of Trustees, AIUB; Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, AIUB; and Professor Dr. Jude William Genilo, Pro Vice Chancellor of ULAB and Chairman of CJEN Bangladesh.

In her inaugural address, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member of the Board of Trustees and former Vice Chancellor of AIUB, emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration among universities to strengthen journalism education and uphold ethical, evidence-based reporting in the digital age.

The conference features keynote presentations, expert panels, and academic paper sessions - introduced for the first time this year — to encourage scholarly research and dialogue among educators and practitioners.

Organisers expressed optimism that the event would serve as a platform for advancing media research, improving teaching practices, and nurturing future generations of communicators capable of navigating Bangladesh's dynamic media landscape.
