Democratic Party candidate Zohrab Mamdani was elected the 111th mayor of New York City in the election held on Tuesday. He made history by defeating former New York State Governor and independent candidate Andrew Cuomo and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa. With this victory, Mamdani became the first Muslim mayor of the city.
