The installation of wellhead compressors at the Titas Gas Field, operated by Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL), has boosted supply to the national grid by an additional 22 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMcfd).

BGFCL announced the development in a press release Today (11 November).

According to the release, gas wells at Location-E (Wells No. 11 and 12) and Location-G (Wells No. 17, 18, and 27) had been producing gas for many years. Over time, the wellhead pressure of these wells dropped below the pressure level of the national grid line, leading to less-than-expected production of gas.

BGFCL undertook a project last year to install wellhead compressors at both Location-E and Location-G of the Titas Gas Field to ensure a stable gas supply by increasing wellhead pressure.

Currently, around 31 MMcfd from Location-E and 30 MMcfd from Location-G are being supplied to the national grid — an increase of 22 MMcfd compared to previous production levels.

In addition, around 36 barrels of condensate per day are being produced as a byproduct from the two locations, the release added.

To meet the country's growing demand for natural gas, BGFCL also reported ongoing implementation of four major projects: Workover of seven wells in the Titas, Habiganj, and Meghna gas fields (1st revised); Drilling of four appraisal-cum-development wells in the Titas and Kamta gas fields; Drilling of two deep exploration wells in the Titas and Bakhrabad gas fields and 3D seismic surveys in the Habiganj, Bakhrabad, and Meghna gas fields.
