V for Vendetta series in the works
HBO is developing a television adaptation of 'V for Vendetta', according to Variety, with writer Pete Jackson attached to the project. James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios will executive produce alongside Ben Stephenson of Poison Pen and Leanne Klein of Wall to Wall Media, part of Warner Bros. Television Studios UK. Warner Bros. Television will produce the series. HBO and DC declined to comment.
The graphic novel, created by writer Alan Moore and illustrator David Lloyd, first appeared in 1982 in the British anthology Warrior, later moving to DC Comics in 1988. Set in a dystopian future Britain ruled by the authoritarian Norsefire party, the story follows V, a masked anarchist seeking to overthrow the regime with the help of Evey Hammond.
If greenlit, the series would join HBO's growing slate of DC live-action projects. The network previously aired the Emmy-winning The Penguin and is preparing to launch Lanterns, expected in early 2026. HBO also found acclaim in 2019 with Watchmen, which expanded on Moore and Dave Gibbons's original graphic novel.
