Two major names in Indian cinema are joining forces as Priyanka Chopra Jonas is set to star in the upcoming film by acclaimed "RRR" director S S Rajamouli. The filmmaker will both write and direct the yet-untitled project, which also features Mahesh Babu in a leading role.

While the film will be distributed in India, discussions are reportedly underway with Variance for U S distribution.

Rajamouli's 2022 blockbuster "RRR" became a global phenomenon, winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Naatu Naatu". The film, set in pre-independent India, followed a fierce warrior and a British-era police officer whose paths collided on a revolutionary mission. With over USD 166 million in global box office earnings, "RRR" remains one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently starred in Amazon Prime Video's action-comedy "Heads of State" opposite Idris Elba and John Cena. The film attracted more than 75 million viewers globally, ranking as one of Amazon MGM Studios' most-watched titles.

Continuing her collaboration with Prime Video, Chopra Jonas will next appear in "The Bluff", an action drama based on a true story, which she also produced through her banner Purple Pebble Pictures. Her production company holds a first-look deal with Amazon Studios to develop films and television projects highlighting diverse global talent.

She will also reprise her role in the second season of Prime Video's spy thriller series "Citadel".

Beyond acting, Chopra Jonas has produced several acclaimed titles, including the documentary "Born Hungry", the Oscar-nominated short "Anuja", and the award-winning feature documentary "To Kill a Tiger."

Named among Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People" and Forbes' "Most Powerful Women," Chopra Jonas is a two-time National Film Award winner and remains one of India's most internationally recognised artistes.
