Police chase down, arrest 3 as banned Chhatra League marches in Chattogram
Police in Chattogram today (9 November) chased down and arrested three activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League after they brought out an unauthorised procession in the city's Muradpur area.
Mohammad Sulaiman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Panchlaish Police Station, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard. "Three individuals were arrested red-handed from the procession," the OC said.
According to police, a group of 20 to 25 leaders and activists of the Chattogram North District Chhatra League gathered around 6:41am. They started a procession near Chattogram's Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board premises in Muradpur and proceeded towards the Sholashahar Railway Station area.
Upon receiving the information, a team from the Panchlaish Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene and immediately chased the activists. While the majority managed to escape, police successfully arrested three individuals on the spot.
The OC added that an operation is currently underway to identify the remaining individuals and bring them under the purview of the law.
