No local or foreign power can derail election: Shafiqul Alam indicating AL
Accusing the Awami League of attempting to derail the upcoming election, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said the fascist political party is proving its affinity to terrorism through nationwide arson attacks.
"So far, seven buses have been set on fire. We believe these incidents were carried out by the Awami League or its affiliated organisations," he said while speaking to journalists today (11 November) after laying the foundation stone for a new building at Kuliara High School in Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla.
"In Demra, one person was caught red-handed. He is from Gopalganj. Meanwhile, a tragic incident occurred in Mymensingh, where a person died in a bus that was set on fire. Through such actions, the Awami League is proving why the people of this country call them fascists."
However, Shafiqul Alam asserted that the national parliamentary election will be held in the first half of February, and no domestic or foreign power will be able to disrupt or derail it.
The press secretary further said, "There can be differences among political parties, but everyone is preparing for the election. The BNP has already announced candidates in 237 constituencies, and Jamaat-e-Islami is also nominating its candidates in its own way. Despite political disagreements, everyone wants a festive and participatory election."
Also present at the event were Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jamal Hussain.
