Acclaimed Indian actor Pankaj Tripathi, best known for "Mirzapur", is making his producing debut with "Perfect Family", an eight-part dramedy that pushes Indian streaming into new territory.

Presented as a JAR Series and produced by Ajay Rai under the JAR Pictures banner alongside Mohit Chabbra, the project is one of India's earliest long-format shows to release on YouTube through a structured pay model. The move echoes Aamir Khan's recent experiment with "Sitaare Zameen Par", which also pivoted to YouTube after its theatrical run.

Directed by Sachin Pathak and created by Palak Bhambri, "Perfect Family" will premiere on the official JAR Series YouTube channel. The first two episodes will remain permanently free, while the remaining six can be accessed through a one-time payment of INR59 (around 65 cents) per episode. For India's creator ecosystem, this marks a notable shift — a test case for whether viewers are willing to pay directly for premium content outside established OTT platforms.

The ensemble cast includes Gulshan Devaiah, Neha Dhupia, Seema Pahwa, Manoj Pahwa, Giraja Oak Godbole, Kaveri Seth and Hirva Trivedi. The narrative follows the Karkaria family, centring on young Daani Karkaria, whose anxiety attack at school sends the entire household into therapy. What begins as a single crisis soon forces the family to confront their long-buried patterns, emotional blind spots and intergenerational expectations.

For Tripathi, the project is both personal and purposeful. "'Perfect Family' is incredibly close to my heart, not just for its story but also for the bold distribution path we're choosing," he said.

"Today, audiences discover stories directly, and platforms like YouTube have evolved into strong spaces for premium long-format content. Producing my first series in a model that steps away from traditional formats felt both refreshing and essential."

He added that the premise struck him immediately: "When I first heard the idea, I was immediately moved — it's a real story told with a warm, humorous touch. Sachin has approached a sensitive topic with such empathy and balance that I believe families everywhere will see a part of themselves in this show. I hope viewers embrace the series and this new way of bringing stories to them."

Each of the eight episodes runs between 35 and 40 minutes. "Perfect Family" premieres November 27 exclusively on the JAR Series YouTube channel, where its success will likely serve as a bellwether for India's next wave of direct-to-viewer digital releases.
