Director Kochi Khondokar and actor Mosharraf Karim — a duo known for their long-standing creative partnership — are set to reunite on the big screen for a new feature film centred on football.

After years of collaboration in dramas and telefilms, Kochi Khondokar has finally confirmed that he will begin shooting his first full-length film with Mosharraf Karim next year. Titled "My Dear Football", the project is expected to go on floors in mid-2026.

Speaking about the film, Kochi said the narrative is inspired by the passion for football in Bangladesh's small towns.

"This film captures the love people in the mofussil have for football. My own affection for the sport began in childhood — my father used to play football, so the attachment runs deep," Kochi explained.

The director added that the film's title comes from the nostalgia attached to the Dear football once widely used across local playgrounds.

"'Dear' also means 'beloved'. The name 'My Dear Football' combines both meanings," he said.

Casting discussions with other actors are underway, and Kochi hopes to officially announce the project at a press conference by the end of this year.

As the story revolves around small-town life, the director intends to shoot primarily in Kushtia. Production is expected to take place in July–August 2026, with back-to-back shooting sessions to complete the film.

Kochi has previously attempted to start film projects but could not proceed due to various setbacks.

"This time, I'm determined to move ahead as planned. The script is ready, and preparations are in full swing," he said.

Meanwhile, Kochi Khondokar's new drama series "Tel Chhara Porota" began airing on Maasranga Television in August. Although Mosharraf Karim did not appear in the initial episodes — a rare absence in Kochi's serials — the director confirmed that the acclaimed actor will join the cast in upcoming episodes.

"My Dear Football" will mark their first collaboration for the cinema screen.
