A fire that broke out at a car garage in the capital's Mohammadpur area was triggered by a crude bomb thrown from a motorcycle, police said following a primary investigation.

According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), initial findings indicate that the incident took place around midnight on Friday (8 November) in Mohammadpur's Beribadh area, near the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) campus.

Two microbuses and a pickup truck were damaged in the blaze, police said.

Mohammadpur Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Rafiq Ahmed said, "Three people on a motorcycle threw an object that exploded instantly, igniting the fire. The pickup truck caught fire first, and the explosion blew off its roof before the flames spread to two nearby microbuses."

"We are treating the incident as a priority," OC Rafiq added, noting that law enforcers are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers.
