Lionsgate has unveiled the first trailer for "Michael", the highly anticipated biopic about Michael Jackson, directed by Antoine Fuqua. The teaser, which will make its theatrical debut ahead of "Now You See Me: Now You Don't", gives audiences their first glimpse of the late icon's life and legacy.

The film stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael's real-life nephew, as the legendary performer. The trailer opens with Jackson in the studio alongside Quincy Jones (played by Kendrick Sampson), who says, "I know you've been waiting a long time for this. The tracks are made, the songs are ready. Let's take it from the top." The teaser then flashes through scenes from Jackson's childhood, rise to fame, and his most iconic performances, including "Thriller", set to the beat of "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'."

The cast also includes Miles Teller as Jackson's attorney John Branca, Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson, Nia Long as his mother Katherine Jackson, Jessica Sula as LaToya Jackson, Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy, Laura Harrier as Suzanne de Passe, and Kat Graham as Diana Ross.

Originally slated for an October 3, 2025 release, "Michael" will now hit theatres on April 24, 2026. Despite wrapping production in May 2024, the film underwent reshoots amid speculation it might be split into two parts — though the trailer suggests it will be released as a single feature.

According to Lionsgate's synopsis, "Michael" will explore Jackson's evolution into the King of Pop, offering "an intimate look at the life and enduring legacy of one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known."

The supporting cast features Liv Symone as Gladys Knight, Kevin Shinick as Dick Clark, KeiLyn Durrel Jones as Jackson's longtime confidant Bill Bray, and Kendrick Sampson as Quincy Jones.

"Michael" is written by John Logan ("Rango", "Alien: Covenant") and produced by Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain, with David B. Householter serving as executive producer.

The film promises to capture both the brilliance and complexity of the global superstar who redefined music and performance for generations.
