Bangladesh Police Additional Inspector General (Development) Sardar Nurul Amin, BPM, has emphasised that the police must operate as a force for the people, warning that any attempt to act against public sentiment will ultimately prove unsuccessful.

"The police force is an integral part of the state and serves as the visible organ of government. In the past, certain vested interests have exploited the police for immoral and unjust purposes to serve their own ends, resulting in negative public perceptions. This sentiment was evident in the recent student movement against discrimination—a reminder that no one can succeed by acting against public opinion," he said.

He made these remarks as chief guest at the graduation parade of the 52nd TRC batch, held at Noakhali Police Training Centre on Thursday morning. The event was chaired by DIG Md Haider Ali Khan, BPM-Seba, Commandant of the Noakhali Police Training Centre.

Additional IG Sardar Nurul Amin further stated that law and order is crucial to national development. "When stability is lacking, investment falters, the economy suffers and public safety is put at risk.

For this reason, the current government is committed to transforming the police into a genuinely people-friendly force through comprehensive reforms. We are identifying and learning from past mistakes," he said.

Guests at the event inspected the parade and various displays, before presenting awards to outstanding trainees.
