A Rajshahi court today placed Limon Miah, the lone accused in the case filed over the killing of the son of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman and the attempted murder of the judge's wife, on a five-day remand.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Deputy Commissioner Gaziur Rahman confirmed the development to journalists.
Gaziur said Limon was under treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), and around 11:30am today the hospital authorities permitted him to be discharged. Later, he was produced before the magistrate around 2:00pm.
Following the court order, police took him to Rajpara Police Station, where he will be interrogated regarding the murder and attempted murder.
On Thursday, Gaibandha's Phulchhari resident Limon entered the judge's residence at Dabtala in Terokhadia of Rajshahi city.
He allegedly stabbed and strangled the judge's 16-year-old son Tawshif Rahman, killing him on the spot. The judge's wife Tasmin Nahar Lusi, 44, was also injured after being stabbed by Limon.
During the scuffle, Limon himself suffered injuries and was later admitted to the hospital.
Following the incident, Judge Abdur Rahman filed a case with Rajpara Police Station yesterday, naming Limon, 35, of Bhabiganj in Gaibandha.
