Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom has arrived in Bangladesh after eight years for a four-day visit as part of his duties as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, the organisation confirmed in a press release.
Bloom, known worldwide for his roles in "The Lord of the Rings", "Pirates of the Caribbean", and "Kingdom of Heaven" visited Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, on Wednesday. During his visit, he met with Rohingya children, youth, and teachers, learning about their educational programs and challenges.
In a statement shared on UNICEF's official Instagram, Bloom said, "I have returned to Bangladesh after more than eight years, this time visiting the world's largest refugee camp in Cox's Bazar. More than one million Rohingya refugees live here, over half of them children. I spoke to Rohingya children, young people, community workers, and teachers. The children are eager to learn and build their future, but their education is at risk due to funding shortages."
Bloom, who has served as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since 2009, has been actively involved in promoting the rights and welfare of underprivileged children around the world.
Aside from his humanitarian work, Bloom is a celebrated Hollywood star, best known for his performances in blockbuster films such as "Black Hawk Down", "Troy", "The Three Musketeers", "The Hobbit", and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.
