Just a day after hiking prices, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has raised the price of gold again.

From tomorrow, the precious metal will be sold at Tk 208,470 per bhori, which is 2 percent or Tk 4,187 higher than the rate at which gold was traded yesterday at jewellers.

Bajus attributed the hike to an increase in the prices of pure gold in the domestic market.

The announcement came hours after global gold prices hit a near three-week high today, supported by hopes that the end of the US government shutdown and the return of economic data could lead the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates next month, reports Reuters.

Spot gold was up 0.3 percent at $4,127.12 per ounce at 1447 GMT, having earlier hit its highest since October 23, it said.

In Bangladesh, gold hit a historic peak of Tk 217,381 per bhori, or approximately 11.664 grammes, on October 20.
