Fire breaks out at cotton warehouses in Tongi
A fire broke out at cotton warehouses in the Milgate area of Tongi, Gazipur, today (8 November).
According to fire service sources, the blaze started at around 11:30am at a tin-shed warehouse owned by one Abdul Mannan Mia.
The fire quickly spread to neighbouring warehouses, with smoke covering the surrounding area.
Six fire service units worked for nearly two hours to bring the fire under control, said Tongi Fire Service station officer Shaheen Alam.
Shaheen said water had to be brought from far away as there was no nearby supply.
He added that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are not yet known. No casualties have been reported.
