The Ministry of Finance has issued a public advisory urging citizens to remain vigilant against misleading content circulating on social media, particularly a fake video featuring the image and voice of Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed.

According to the ministry, a vested group recently disseminated the video on Facebook and other social media platforms, using Ahmed's likeness in promotional material for advertisements or campaigns.

The ministry clarified that the statements and information presented in the video have no connection to either the finance adviser or the Ministry of Finance.

Preliminary analysis suggests that the video was generated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, combining a synthetic voice with background visuals of the finance adviser, as per the press release issued by the ministry today.

Such deceptive content is not only misleading but also undermines the social and institutional integrity of the finance adviser, the ministry warned.

In response, the ministry has taken steps to have the video removed and is pursuing legal action against those responsible.

The advisory emphasised the importance of verifying information before engaging in financial transactions and urged the public not to be misled by similar fake videos or news in the future.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting public interest and maintaining transparency in financial communications.
