Central Zone and East Zone picked up wins on the opening day of the Women's Bangladesh Cricket League (WBCL) at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium today in Rajshahi.

Mst. Eva was the star for Central Zone in the afternoon match, blazing an unbeaten 49-ball 60 to help here side to a seven-wicket win. Chasing 133, Ishma Tanjim (36) and Eva put on a solid foundation of 65 runs. Skipper Nigar Sultana hit a 15-ball 22 as Central Zone won with three deliveries to spare. Shanzida Akter bagged two for 20 for North Zone.

Earlier, North Zone put on credible partnerships as Shamima Sultana, Sharmin Sultana and Sobhana Mostary contributed with 30-odd knocks to help post 132 for three.

East Zone won by 14 runs in the morning fixture against South Zone at the same venue. Taj Nehar's 35-ball 46 helped East Zone to 121 for 6 as Rabeya Khan bagged three for 22 for South.

In reply, South Zone reached 107 for 9. Misty Rani scored 34 off 37 while Rabeya managed a 14-ball 20. Fatema Jahan Sonia bagged three for 15 while Shorna Akter scalped two for 24.
