DMP bans on-duty police from using mobile phones except in-charges to ensure safety
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has ordered police members, except the officer-in‑charges, to not use mobile phones while on duty in Dhaka metropolitan.
The directive was issued today (10 November) via an office order signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali.
"It has recently been observed with concern that DMP members using mobile phones while on duty are hampering their vigilance and responsibilities. As a result, despite being visibly present, police are failing to ensure their own safety and that of the public," the order stated.
The order further stated that in such a situation, to ensure a fair environment for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, maintain normal law and order situation and successfully prevent the activities of banned organisations, the members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, except the in-charges, have been instructed not to use mobile phones.
If any police member disobeys this order, it will be considered an act against discipline. Action will be taken against him as per the rules, it added.
