Charli xcx has announced her next album, an original soundtrack for Emerald Fennell's forthcoming adaptation of "Wuthering Heights". The record, inspired by Charlotte Brontë's classic novel, will be released on 13 February under Atlantic Records.
The singer also unveiled a new track from the album titled "Chains of Love". It follows the first single, "House", which features The Velvet Underground's John Cale and was released earlier this week. The full tracklist remains under wraps, though Charli wrote and produced most of the album with Finn Keane, also known as Easyfun.
In a recent Substack post, the "Brat" hitmaker revealed that Fennell had initially approached her for a single song. Charli, however, proposed expanding the collaboration into an entire album.
"I suggested 'An album?' because why not?" she wrote. "I wanted to dive into persona, into a world that felt undeniably raw, wild, sexual, gothic, British, tortured and full of actual real sentences, punctuation and grammar… It was all totally other from the life I was currently living. I was fully in."
Charli's last release, the Grammy-nominated Brat, arrived in June 2024. It was followed by a deluxe edition and a remix album.
"Chains of Love" is now available to stream, accompanied by the official cover art for Wuthering Heights.
