The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) has postponed the start of the upcoming Dhaka First Division Cricket League by one week, with the tournament now set to begin on November 25, a CCDM official confirmed on Saturday.

The league was initially scheduled to start on November 18, following the players' transfer held on November 5–6. However, only 12 of the 20 participating clubs took part in the transfer, raising concerns about whether the competition could begin as planned.

The remaining eight clubs abstained from the transfer, alleging issues related to the legitimacy of the current cricket board, election irregularities, and other grievances. Their stance has cast uncertainty over full participation in the league.

"We will send a letter to the clubs tomorrow with the new starting date. We are trying to convince the other clubs to feature in the tournament. If they are not willing to reach an understanding, then we will proceed with just the 12," the CCDM official told The Daily Star.

When contacted, officials from the eight abstaining clubs told The Daily Star they are standing firm and have no intention of joining the upcoming league.
