BIMEA marks 36 years of contribution to industrial growth
The Bangladesh Ink Manufacturers' & Exporters' Association (BIMEA) celebrated its 36th anniversary with a grand gala at The Westin Dhaka on 8 November 2025, marking over three decades of contribution to Bangladesh's industrial and export growth.
Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Industries, attended the event as chief guest, while Md Anwar Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, was present as special guest, and Md Shahriar, President of BGAPMEA, attended as guest of honour.
In his address, the chief guest lauded the ink industry as a "silent but vital force" behind Bangladesh's garments, packaging, and printing sectors. "A strong domestic ink industry means a stronger, self-reliant manufacturing base for Bangladesh," he said, reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting innovation-driven and sustainable industries.
Special guest Md Anwar Hossain praised BIMEA's role in strengthening the core of Bangladesh's economy through its focus on quality, technology, and eco-friendly production. He also highlighted partnerships with global leaders such as hubergroup, Siegwerk, and Sakata for advancing knowledge and technology transfer within the sector.
BIMEA President Shahab Uddin Khan expressed pride in the association's journey since its founding in 1989. "This milestone reflects our unity and vision for a self-reliant ink industry. Local ink production has reduced import dependence, making it a true import-substitute sector that saves foreign currency and generates employment nationwide," he said.
The event, themed "36 Years of Legacy," also honoured Kamal & Company and Danish Ink Industries with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their pioneering contributions as the country's first sheetfed and web offset and liquid ink manufacturers, respectively.
