Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will take action against anyone involved in match-fixing,  Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, said today (9 November).

"Those involved in match-fixing and against whom evidence is found should not be allowed to play," he said during the inauguration of the Youth Self-Defence Basic Training Project at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) in Savar.

He added that allegations alone are not enough; preliminary evidence is needed to impose punishment.

He also said not only players but outsiders can be involved, and action will follow the report.

On sexual harassment allegations against cricketer Jahanara Alam and other female athletes, Asif said the investigation committee will submit its report on time and national-level action may follow if necessary.

He further said all sports should be safe for women and more women should participate.

Regarding the Youth Self-Defence Basic Training Project, he said it is starting on a small scale. "A total of 8,850 participants will be trained. The project will cost Tk27 crore and will be implemented over two years and six months in seven BKSP training centres in Savar," he added.
