The Bangladesh Agricultural Journalists Forum (BAJF) has announced a 25-day programme to mark 25 years of its journey.

As part of the celebrations, BAJF will organise a three-day international agriculture and food conference in Dhaka.

BAJF President Shahanuare Shaid Shahin shared the information at a press briefing held on the premises of the Cotton Development Board office in the capital today.

He said that since its establishment in 2000, BAJF has consistently worked on agricultural journalism, farmers' rights, and food policy.

As the main event of the 25-day programme, a three-day international conference and training workshop will be organised. The event, which will feature six sessions, will focus on the theme "Political Commitment in Agriculture and Food".

Shahin said the lack of political commitment to agriculture and food has been longstanding.

"We may not be able to correct the politicians, but we will clearly highlight where changes are needed."

BAJF General Secretary Abu Khalid said that despite Bangladesh being an agriculture-based country, concerns about the neglect of agriculture and farmers persist.

Issues such as farmers not receiving fair prices, problems in the value chain, and shortages of inputs will be discussed at the conference, he added.
