Alan Rickman's meticulous working style comes into sharp focus as a collection of his heavily annotated scripts and personal memorabilia heads to auction, including materials from "Die Hard" and the "Harry Potter" franchise.

Propstore — the Los Angeles- and London-based auction house known for handling major entertainment memorabilia and recently selling a Star Wars lightsaber for £2.7 million — is hosting a three-day sale featuring several lots from the late actor's archive.

Rickman, who passed away in 2016, was known to archive scripts and related items in labelled plastic boxes for each film. The most valuable lot, estimated between £30,000 and £60,000, features materials from his breakout role as Hans Gruber in the 1988 thriller "Die Hard". It includes a shooting script filled with Rickman's handwritten notes and suggested dialogue changes, along with a call sheet, press materials, and his invitation to the film's London gala premiere. A separate lot features a $100,000 prop Treasury note from the film, expected to fetch £1,000–£2,000.

Rickman's enduring legacy as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series is also reflected in the auction. Items include a gold-plated pocket watch gifted to cast and crew of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (estimate: £2,000–£4,000), Rickman's personal set of Harry Potter novels (£1,000–£2,000), a Snape action figure (£500–£1,000), and a hand-drawn Halloween greeting sent to him by Rupert Grint (estimate: £2,000–£4,000).

The sale also highlights the breadth of Rickman's career. A box of materials from the 1989 film "Truly Madly Deeply" contains annotated pages, notes on learning the cello for the role, and a personal message from director Anthony Minghella. A shooting script from "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves", where Rickman delivered another standout performance as the Sheriff of Nottingham, is valued at £10,000–£20,000. Items from the fan-favourite sci-fi comedy "Galaxy Quest" — including logo-emblazoned caps and a cast-and-crew party invitation (estimate £4,000–£8,000) — are also featured, along with behind-the-scenes photographs from "Sense and Sensibility", in which he played Colonel Brandon.

For those interested in Rickman's lesser-known works, the sale includes materials from Kevin Smith's 1999 film "Dogma", where he portrayed the angel Metatron; script and clapperboard from "The Winter Guest", his directorial debut; and production notes, storyboards, and location documents from "A Little Chaos", his second and final film as director.

Propstore's Entertainment Memorabilia Auction will be held at Bafta in London and online from December 5–7.
