Akij Pharmacy opens first flagship outlet in Dhaka
AKIJ Pharmacy, a retail chain of AKIJ Resource, has inaugurated its first flagship outlet with the aim of ensuring access to quality medicines and healthcare services.
The flagship outlet was inaugurated on Monday at Ataturk Tower on Kemal Ataturk Avenue in Banani, Dhaka, by popular actor and physician Dr S M Ejajul Islam.
AKIJ Pharmacy began operations in June 2025 with a focus on providing authentic medicines at affordable prices. The company currently operates 13 outlets across the country, including in Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna, Pabna and Jashore.
Istiuck Ali Talukdar, Chief Business Officer of AKIJ Pharmacy, said the company's primary objective was to ensure the availability of safe and quality medicines at reasonable prices. He said the brand aimed to differentiate itself through customer-focused services, quality assurance and the use of modern technology to build long-term trust with customers.
He added that AKIJ Pharmacy offers advice from experienced pharmacists alongside efficient service delivery. The company plans to expand its network by opening 500 additional outlets over the next three years.
Towfique Hasan, Chief Business Development Officer of AKIJ Resource, said the decision to enter the pharmacy retail business was driven by the need to provide safe, affordable and authentic medicines to consumers.
Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of AKIJ Resource, said the group intended to maintain the same standards of customer service and business ethics in the pharmacy segment as in its other business ventures.
Sujan Ghosh, Head of Operations of AKIJ Pharmacy, along with senior officials of AKIJ Resource and AKIJ Pharmacy, were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
