Krishak Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique has declared his party will not participate in any "rigged" election, hinting at the upcoming 13th national polls.

"We will contest only if a favourable environment is created," he said after paying tribute at the National Memorial in Savar on the occasion of Victory Day today (16 December).

He added, "Those who fought for independence still have not received their due respect. People of this country want an election. Sheikh Hasina's government fell because there were no fair polls.

"If there had been good elections, her government would not have faced such a terrible downfall."

"The activities of Muhammad Yunus' government, or those he associates with, do not reflect Bangladesh. They may not even represent a quarter of Bangladesh.

"That is why we will undoubtedly participate if a completely favourable election atmosphere is developed. But we will not participate in any manipulated election," he added.
