USET charts roadmap for skill-based higher education
The University of Skill Enrichment and Technology (USET) held its first syndicate meeting on Wednesday in the university's conference room in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr Engr A K M Fazlul Haque, chairman of the syndicate and vice-chancellor (designate) of USET.
Md Saifur Rahman Khan, Joint Secretary (Admin and Finance), Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, attended the meeting as the government-nominated member for USET.
Other distinguished attendees included Professor Dr Md Fazlul Hoque, member, Board of Trustees (BoT), USET; Professor Dr Moazzem Hossain, founder chairman, BoT (virtually); Engr Md Serajul Islam, member, BoT and special invitee of the vice-chancellor; Professor Muhammad Siddique Hossain, treasurer (in-charge) and dean, Faculty of Business; Professor Dr Sabina Yeasmin, Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Dhaka; Mr Mossarraf Hossain, registrar and member-secretary of the syndicate; and Ms Farhana Akter Badhon, head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), USET.
The meeting discussed and approved several key academic and administrative items, including curriculum development, faculty recruitment, infrastructure expansion and a future strategic roadmap to ensure academic excellence and employability-driven outcomes.
Syndicate members highlighted the need for strong industry–academia links to equip students with practical skills aligned with national and global workforce demands.
The inaugural syndicate meeting marked a milestone for USET, reaffirming its vision to foster a world-class environment integrating skills, technology, innovation and education. With its mission to develop skilled professionals and entrepreneurs, USET aims to play a pivotal role in driving national development and sustainable progress in Bangladesh and beyond.
