Screen set up at TSC for live broadcast of verdict against Hasina
The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) has arranged a large-scale live broadcast of the International Crimes Tribunal's verdict against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
A massive crowd, primarily consisting of university students, gathered at the Payra Chattar of the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) today (17 November), for the live telecast of the judgment.
The verdict, being announced by the ICT, involves charges of crimes against humanity during the July Uprising by the now-banned Awami League chief.
The atmosphere was charged, with participants loudly chanting slogans such as "Abu Sayed is in the grave, why is the killer outside?", "We want justice—trial of the killer Hasina!", "We want execution—execution for Hasina!"
Sadik Shikder, vice president of the Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall students' union, said, "On behalf of two thousand martyrs, their families, the injured, and their families — our only demand is the execution of Sheikh Hasina."
The tribunal's decision to allow the live broadcast of the verdict, which is also being broadcast on Bangladesh Television and other media outlets.
