The Supreme Court administration has banned the entry of outsiders into the National Eidgah grounds adjacent to the Supreme Court premises to strengthen security in and around the compound, the International Crimes Tribunal, the attorney general's office, the Supreme Court Bar Association, and their surrounding areas.
A notification issued yesterday said the Supreme Court is the highest judicial institution of the country, where the chief justice and other justices of both divisions conduct judicial proceedings.
It also houses the files of hundreds of thousands of important and sensitive cases, including many of national significance.
Recently, the authorities observed an increased presence of outsiders and unfamiliar individuals at the National Eidgah grounds, which are owned by the Supreme Court, as well as near the fountain area adjacent to the main gate used by the chief justice to enter the premises.
This situation, the notification stated, poses a potential threat to the security of the Supreme Court and the International Crimes Tribunal.
"In the interest of ensuring comprehensive security of the Bangladesh Supreme Court compound and adjacent institutions, the entry of outsiders into the National Eidgah grounds has been prohibited," the notice read.
Security personnel have been instructed to enforce the restrictions strictly and monitor the area closely to prevent unauthorised access, it added.
