Vice Chancellor of the National University Professor Dr ASM Amanullah paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War by laying wreaths at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar on the occasion of the Great Victory Day.

The vice chancellor laid wreaths at the memorial in the early hours of Monday, 16 December, and stood in silence for some time to honour the memories of the martyred heroes.

Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Md Lutfur Rahman, Treasurer Professor Dr ATM Jafrul Azam, deans of various faculties, the registrar, controller of examinations, directors of different departments, chairpersons, teachers, officers and staff of the university were present alongside the vice chancellor.

At the same time, wreaths were laid at Liberation War memorials and martyrs' monuments in Gazipur main campus of the National University, regional centres and respective divisional cities to pay homage to the martyred freedom fighters of 1971.

Earlier, at sunrise on 16 December, the national flag and the university flag were hoisted at the National University's Gazipur campus, city office and regional centres. Victory Day was also observed with due respect at the colleges affiliated with the National University across the country.
