The King of Pop continues to reign. The trailer for "Michael", Lionsgate's upcoming biopic on Michael Jackson, has shattered viewing records by racking up 116.2 million views worldwide within just 24 hours of its release — making it the most-watched trailer for a musical biopic in history.

According to Collider, the teaser outperformed Lionsgate's previous record-holder, "John Wick: Chapter 4", by more than 50 percent in its first six hours online. It now also stands as the most-viewed Lionsgate trailer ever.

"People have been waiting a long time for this," said Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate's group chair. "I think audiences are stunned by Jaafar [Jackson]'s performance," he added.

The trailer's debut far outpaced its peers. "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" had 96.1 million views, "Bob Marley: One Love" drew 60.1 million, "Bohemian Rhapsody" reached 57.6 million, and the Bob Dylan biopic "A Complete Unknown" gathered 47.2 million views.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, "Michael" stars Jaafar Jackson, the late icon's nephew, as the legendary performer. The film explores Jackson's rise to global superstardom, blending his artistry, personal challenges, and lasting legacy.

The biopic also stars Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, and Miles Teller as John Branca. The movie is set to hit theatres on April 24, 2026.
