Mehazabien denies allegations in court case
Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury has strongly denied the allegations filed against her and her 19-year-old brother, Alisan Chowdhury, in March 2025, describing the claims as "baseless" and unsupported by evidence.
The complaint, lodged by Amirul Islam under Sections 107 and 117(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, alleged threats and intimidation, as well as claims that Mehazabien and her brother received Tk 27 lakh from him in return for a promised business partnership. Mehazabien was granted bail yesterday.
In an official statement on Facebook, the actress highlighted the lack of supporting evidence, noting that the complainant has failed to provide any proof of communication, financial records, contracts, receipts, or witnesses. She also challenged allegations that she and her brother had taken Amirul to a restaurant in Hatirjheel, pointing out the absence of CCTV footage or corroboration in one of Dhaka's most monitored areas.
Mehazabien added that she had received no prior notice from authorities over the past nine months and would have taken legal action earlier had she been properly informed. Stressing her commitment to legal procedures, she urged the public and media not to rush to judgment, describing the situation as "the most painful part" of her 15-year career.
