A man was stabbed to death by his son following a family dispute in Satkania upazila of Chattogram late last night.

The victim was identified as Ahmad Hossain, 52, of Uttar Kanchana Nayapara area in Kanchana union under Satkania upazila.

Police arrested the assailant, his son Riyad Hossain, this morning.

Satkania Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Mahmud Kauser Hossain said the body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy.

"Further legal action against the accused is underway," he added.

According to locals, a prolonged conflict over domestic issues had been ongoing between Ahmad and his son Riyad. The tension boiled over last night when a heated argument escalated into violence.

Riyad allegedly stabbed his father with a knife around 11:00pm, leaving him critically injured.

Neighbours rushed to the scene and rescued Ahmad, who was fatally wounded; however, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Satkania Upazila Health Complex, police confirmed.

Following the murder, Riyad fled the scene but was arrested during a police operation this morning.

A police team, including Additional Superintendent of Police (Satkania Circle) Ariful Islam Siddiqui and OC Kauser, visited the site to investigate.
