Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Monday reiterated that if elected to power, his party will ensure the safety of women in workplace and policies will be formulated for the employment of women.

He said women will work for five hours and receive wages for eight hours as employers will pay for five hours, while the government will bear the wages for the remaining three.

He also said that homemakers will be honoured as "Rotnogorbha mothers", adding that women who wish to work eight hours will be respected.

Shafiqur made these remarks while addressing a reception rally as the chief guest at the field of Islami Bank Model School and College in Mirpur last night.

The event was organised by Dr Shafiqur Rahman Supporters' Group of Mirpur-Kafrul region (Dhaka-15 constituency).

The Jamaat chief said if elected, people would not need to come to him with their problems. Rather, he would go forward to solve their issues on a priority basis.

He said that the youth's work is not yet finished -- they must continue to clean "all sorts of filth" from society.

He further said that due to a lack of proper education, Bangladesh is facing many problems. He added that if Allah gave them the opportunity to form the government, every child will be brought up with quality education to reform this "decaying society".

Addressing as a special guest, Dr Fakhruddin Manik said if Jamaat forms the government, Bangladesh will be governed based on equality and human dignity.
