Grameenphone Academy, a free online learning platform for youth developed by Grameenphone, recently celebrated its third anniversary at an event held at a hotel in Dhaka.

More than 450 students attended the programme alongside senior officials of Grameenphone and representatives of partner organisations.

At the event, Grameenphone Academy highlighted its achievements over the past three years. The platform currently serves more than 237,000 students from over 167 institutions across the country, with around 100,000 learners having completed courses and received certificates.

The success of the Grameenphone Academy Freelancing Factory Programme was also highlighted. Fifty students from the programme earned a combined income of $60,000 within a year, while two participants went on to establish their own agencies.

Grameenphone Academy also shared progress on its 'AI Mission', launched earlier this year with the target of training 10,000 students in artificial intelligence within six months. Within three months of launch, more than 5,000 students had already completed AI-related courses.

Yasir Azman, Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone, said the enthusiasm and creativity of learners reflected the country's growing digital potential. He said digital and technology skills were increasingly critical for national progress, adding that Grameenphone Academy aimed to contribute to building a future-ready workforce through relevant and timely courses.

The event featured a session titled "CEO x CEO", where Yasir Azman held a discussion with Neel Nafis, founder of MZ Media, focusing on leadership, innovation and long-term career development. This was followed by an interactive session involving Grameenphone's Chief Human Resources Officer Sayeda Tahya Hossain and Chief Marketing Officer Farha Naz Zaman, who shared experiences from their corporate careers.

As part of the celebration, Grameenphone Academy unveiled a mathematically generated version of its logo designed by a student using 123 formula-based elements. Recognitions were also presented to learners, including an award for a student who completed 26 courses on the platform and a certificate for the winner of a tote bag design competition.

The event was attended by Grameenphone's Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Tanveer Mohammad, Head of ESG Farhana Islam, Head of Grameenphone Academy Farhana Hossain Shammu, and Munir Hasan, co-founder of the Bangladesh Open Source Network.

The celebration also featured a sustainability-themed 'Trashion Show' by Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, promoting upcycling and environmental awareness, and concluded with a live performance by singer Pritom Hasan.
