Ticket for the much-anticipated Bangladesh-India Asian Cup Qualifiers fixture began at 2:00 pm today, and within just six minutes, all general gallery tickets were sold out.
The match, scheduled for 18 November at the National Stadium in Dhaka, has generated tremendous excitement among football fans across the country.
Golam Gauss, chairman of the BFF Competition Committee and a former national footballer, confirmed the development to the media.
"All the general gallery tickets were booked within six minutes. Customers are now completing their payments, and over half of those have already been processed. No general gallery tickets remain unsold. Only tickets for the Red Box and hospitality sections are now available."
For the previous matches against Singapore and Hong Kong, general gallery tickets were priced at Tk 400. However, due to the heightened demand surrounding the India match, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) increased the price to Tk 500. Despite the price rise, supporters showed no hesitation, snapping up tickets almost instantly after sales opened.
Although the tickets for the India match sold out at record speed, tickets for the friendly against Nepal on November 13, which were released a week ago, are yet to be completely sold.
Gauss remained optimistic that sales for the Nepal fixtures will pick up following today's sell-out frenzy:
"All tickets for the India match are gone, and even Hamza (the national striker) is arriving today. Fans will surely start collecting tickets for the Nepal match now."
