Police last night arrested Mohammed Fakhrul Islam, former joint secretary of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira), in connection with a human trafficking case.

A team from Banani Police Station arrested him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon his arrival from abroad, said Rasel Sarwar, officer-in-charge of the station.

Fakhrul Islam is an accused in a human trafficking case filed with Banani Police Station, the OC said.

He added that Fakhrul was later released under the supervision of a lawyer due to illness, on the condition that he secures bail from a court within two days.
