The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting with law enforcement agencies this afternoon to discuss overall security ahead of the 13th national election and the referendum, both scheduled for February 12 next year.
The meeting will take place at EC headquarters around 4:00pm, said Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud.
"For overall security, we will sit in a meeting today with the police commissioner, the inspector general of police (IGP), the chief of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the home secretary, the law secretary, and representatives of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC)," he said.
Following the meeting, the EC will brief journalists, he added.
Meanwhile, the constitutional body yesterday sent a letter to police headquarters seeking additional security for the chief election commissioner, four election commissioners, the EC secretary, three in-house returning officers, as well as all field-level offices and officials of the commission.
