Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has won the Silver Award in the general banking category at the 12th ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence, held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka on 15 December 2025.

Managing Director Ali Reza Iftekhar received the award from Lutfey Siddiqi, special envoy on international affairs to the chief adviser, at a gala ceremony attended by policymakers, regulators and corporate leaders.

Expressing appreciation, Iftekhar said, "This consistent recognition over more than a decade is deeply meaningful to us – not as a tally of awards, but as a reaffirmation of our values, discipline and long-term commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical leadership."

Since the inception of the ICSB National Awards in 2013, EBL has received a total of six Gold, four Silver and two Bronze awards, reflecting its values-driven leadership and disciplined corporate governance culture.

The ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence is considered a key benchmark for corporate governance in Bangladesh, recognising organisations that demonstrate high standards of ethical conduct, transparency and effective strategic oversight.
